Clay is my Passion | ![]() |
CLAY IS MY PASSION… Five years ago, I started an intense investigation into engobes, terra sigillatas, colored earthenware & stoneware clay bodies, stains and underglazes (with and without the application of glazes). I began fantasizing about clay surface finishes at the conceptual, greenware stage and the numerous ways to achieve them. I constantly explore new ways of creating colorful patterns, textures and finishes on all clays and continue to fine tune the transfer-printing methods of German potter, Martin Mohwald which I learned at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. Simply put, I’m dedicated to becoming familiar with ALL my options. I constantly draw upon my years of acquired knowledge and still employ a thought provoking ‘what if’ every time I sit down to create a pot, rattle or bead. My latest explorations have been with Clay-to-Wear – beads, pendants, pins & cabochons – all fashioned from earthenware or stoneware clays. My journeying into clay jewelry began with sculptural clay pin/pendants I call my Wear-Me-Out Series and has evolved into clay bead necklaces and earrings. I also teach BEADS in CLAY classes and workshops. | ![]() |
